A 21-year-old Indian-origin student was shot dead in Philadelphia. An English newspaper based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) gave this information on Monday. The deceased student has been identified as Jude Chacko.

Media reports suggested that he was shot by unknown assailants while returning from work on Sunday (local time). The parents of the deceased student had migrated to the US from Kollam district of Kerala around 30 years ago. Jude Chacko was a student and also worked part-time. According to media reports, he was attacked by two men during the robbery attempt.

This is the second such incident this year in which an Indian-origin student was targeted and killed in the US. Earlier, a 24-year-old student from Andhra Pradesh was shot dead on April 21, 2023 at a petrol pump in the US. This information was given by the police of Columbus Division. The deceased was identified as Saiesh Veera, who worked at a petrol pump in Ohio. Police had told that he was shot dead by unknown assailants while on duty. The police had also released the picture of the suspect and sought help in identifying the accused.
