22 people died and more than 50 were injured in a mass shooting incident late Wednesday night in Lewiston city of Maine state of America. According to media reports, the suspected attacker is absconding after the incident, whose search is on. Security officials shared two photos of the suspected attacker with a rifle on Facebook and asked for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

The Medical Center in Lewiston said in a statement that there were "mass casualties" in the shooting incident, who were being treated. Coordination is being done with area hospitals to take the injured. In two photos shared by the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was in a firing position with a rifle. The county sheriff is asking for help from locals in identifying the suspect.

Maine State Police warned about an active shooter on the social media platform X. He said, 'We have asked people to stay at their places only. Law enforcement is investigating in various areas.

US officials said that President Joe Biden has been informed about the incident. This is the deadliest mass shooting since May 2022 last year. In May last year, two teachers along with 19 children were killed in a shooting at a school in Texas.
