Indians have to wait a long time for US Visa. Now this issue has reached the US Parliament. US lawmakers have raised questions about the long time taken by Indians to get US visa and said that India is the most important ally, so this problem should be resolved at the earliest.

Visa waiting for Indians 600 days

Senator Bob Menendez, chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Michael Waltz, co-chair of the India Caucus, questioned the delay in getting US visas to Indians. During this, Menendez said that 'American people have good relations with Indians. India is now a part of the Quad and we are continuously strengthening our ties with India. Despite this, the time taken for a US visa in India is the highest. This is more than the average time it takes for a US visa worldwide. He said that Indians applying for B1-B2 visa get a waiting period of 450-600 days. Menendez questioned this.

'Relationship with India most important in 21st century'

US Senator Michael Waltz said that America's economic, diplomatic and defense relations with India are most important in the 21st century. Despite this, it is painful to make Indians wait so long for visas. He said the average waiting period in Mumbai is 587 days while the trade between the two countries is more than $150 billion. Waltz said that PM Modi is going to visit America soon, so what are we doing to solve this issue? Waltz asked whether we are considering making any special policy for India or not?

Michael Waltz said that in my state Florida alone, the delay in visas for Indians has resulted in a loss of business worth about $8 billion and 250,000 jobs have been affected.
