Unani practitioner Dr. Javed Akhtar shot dead in Delhi. Crime Branch apprehends a juvenile, efforts underway to nab co-accused.

In a shocking incident, a well-known Unani practitioner, Dr. Javed Akhtar, was shot dead in Delhi, sending shockwaves across the city. The crime, which took place in the heart of the national capital, has sparked concerns over rising incidents of violence in the city. The Southern Range Crime Branch has apprehended a juvenile in connection with the murder, and efforts are underway to nab the co-accused involved in the brutal killing.

According to a statement from the Southern Range Crime Branch, the apprehended juvenile has admitted to his involvement in the murder of Dr. Akhtar. Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to track down the co-accused, who remains at large. The police have also revealed that the juvenile allegedly acquired the firearm used in the crime from an individual in Jafrabad, a locality in North East Delhi.

Apprehended Juvenile Confesses to the Crime

The juvenile, whose identity has been withheld due to legal constraints, was arrested by a special team from the Southern Range Crime Branch after being identified as a suspect in the shooting of Dr. Akhtar. During the interrogation, the juvenile confessed to his role in the crime, admitting that he shot the Unani practitioner. The authorities have now focused their efforts on capturing the other individual involved, who played a key role in orchestrating the murder.

Investigating officers have disclosed that the juvenile acquired the weapon from a man based in Jafrabad, a densely populated area known for its bustling markets and narrow lanes. The crime branch has dispatched a team to Jafrabad to locate the person who provided the pistol. “We are making all efforts to apprehend the co-accused and the individual who supplied the weapon. This is a high-priority case for us,” said a senior officer from the Crime Branch.

Motive for the Murder Still Unclear

While the juvenile has confessed to the crime, the motive behind the killing remains unclear. Investigators are looking into all angles, including the possibility of a personal dispute or a larger conspiracy. Dr. Javed Akhtar, a respected Unani practitioner in the area, had no known criminal connections, making the case even more puzzling for the authorities.

“We are examining the doctor’s background, his recent interactions, and any possible conflicts he may have had in the days leading up to the incident,” the investigating officer added. As part of the investigation, police are also scrutinizing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene to gather more evidence about the events leading to the shooting.

Community in Shock

The murder of Dr. Akhtar has left the local community in shock. Colleagues and patients of the Unani practitioner expressed their disbelief over his sudden death, describing him as a compassionate and dedicated professional. “Dr. Akhtar was a man of integrity and always helped his patients. It is devastating to think that he was killed in such a horrific manner,” said one of his longtime patients.

Several medical professionals in Delhi have called for swift justice in the case, urging the police to take stringent action against those involved in the crime. The Southern Range Crime Branch is expected to update the public on the progress of the case in the coming days.

Efforts to Curb Gun Violence in Delhi

This incident has once again raised concerns over the availability of illegal firearms in the capital city. The fact that a juvenile could easily acquire a pistol has highlighted the growing problem of gun violence in Delhi. Law enforcement agencies are under increased pressure to crack down on illegal arms dealers, particularly in areas like Jafrabad, which have seen a surge in such activity.

The authorities have reassured the public that they are making concerted efforts to address the issue of illegal firearms and have launched several operations to curb the proliferation of weapons in the city.

As the investigation into Dr. Akhtar’s murder continues, the police have urged anyone with information regarding the crime to come forward. The Southern Range Crime Branch has vowed to bring those responsible to justice as swiftly as possible.
