For the post of the new police chief of the state, one of the DG Cooperative Cell Anand Kumar and Vijay Kumar was to be selected. Today Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stamped the name of this IPS officer.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued orders to assign additional charge of Acting Director General of Police UP along with DG Vigilance, DG CBCID to 1988 batch IPS Vijay Kumar. Uttar Pradesh has got the Acting Director General of Police for the third time. The government has made IPS Vijay Kumar the acting DGP.

Vijay Kumar is currently on the post of DG Vigilance, DG CBCID. Along with this post, he will hold the additional charge of Director General of Police. 1988 batch IPS Vijay Kumar will retire in January 2024. For the post of the new police chief of the state, one of the DG Cooperative Cell Anand Kumar and Vijay Kumar was to be selected. Today Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stamped the name of IPS Vijay Kumar.

Prior to this, despite brainstorming at the government level on Monday, the proposal for the selection of the new chief of the police department could not be sent to the Union Public Service Commission. Vijay Kumar will replace Dr Rajkumar Vishwakarma. Before him, Dr. Devendra Singh Chauhan was on this post. He retired on 31 March.

UP did not get permanent DGP for one year

For the last one year, Uttar Pradesh has to run its work with the help of acting DGP. On 11 May 2022, full-time DGP Mukul Goyal was suddenly removed. After this, DG Intelligence DS Chauhan was made acting DGP.
