Before the Asia Cup 2022, the Pakistan team has suffered a major setback.

Asia Cup 2022 is about to come and Team India is all set for this prestigious event. It will be organized in the United Arab Emirates. On Saturday, India's arch-rivals Pakistan suffered a setback as pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Reacting to the news, former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis had said that Shaheen's injury would be a 'big relief' for the Indian top order. However, on Sunday, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan retaliated.

Irfan Pathan gave this answer

Irfan Pathan told Younis that the Pakistani team should breathe a sigh of relief, as India will go there without both Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. Irfan Pathan tweeted that it is a relief for other teams also that Bumrah and Harshal are not playing in this Asia Cup. Responding to Irfan Pathan's tweet, former India opener Wasim Jaffer also reacted. He posted a scene from the hit Bollywood film 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar', in which it is written, Chahe Tum Kuch Na Kaho, Maine Sun Liya.

Bumrah and Axar Patel also out due to injury

Bumrah is out of the Asia Cup due to a back injury, while Harshal is out due to a rib injury. Talking about Shaheen, the left-arm fast bowler suffered a right knee ligament injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. PCB Chief Medical Officer Dr Najibullah Soomro said, "I have spoken to Shaheen and he is deeply disturbed by this news, but he is a brave young man who has vowed to come back strongly to serve his country and team."

No announcement of another player in place of Shaheen

Pakistan has not yet announced the name of another player in place of Afridi. Dr Sumro further explained that although he has made progress during his rehabilitation at Rotterdam, it is now clear that he will need more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October. Pakistan will start their campaign against India in Dubai on 28 August.
