War: Only two days of fuel left in Gaza hospitals, thousands of patients may die, voting in UNSC today
More than 3,900 lives have been lost from both sides in the war that started with Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7.
Due to the strict steps taken by Israel to eliminate the terrorist organization Hamas, the citizens of Gaza as well as the hospitals are facing a crisis of fuel and other supplies. Gaza's hospitals, overflowing with wounded and other patients, warned on Sunday that if fuel and other supplies ran out, thousands of people could die.
After the attack by Hamas, people of Gaza have become destitute due to Israel blocking electricity, water and other supplies. Meanwhile, Israel has ordered people living in northern Gaza to move towards southern Gaza, as it is preparing to destroy all Hamas bases located in the area. After this decree of Israel, 11 lakh people will have to migrate. On the other hand, Hamas has called on people not to leave the area.
Like a death sentence for 2,000 patients and newborns
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that Israel's decree will be a death sentence for at least 2,000 patients and infants admitted to hospitals in northern Gaza. The United Nations expressed concern that there is a shortage of generator fuel near Gaza's hospitals. It is estimated that the fuel available with the hospitals will be exhausted in two days. After this the lives of the patients will be in danger. The ICU of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza's second largest city after Al-Shifa, is filled with injured. According to Dr Mohammad Qandil, Consultant of Intensive Care Building, the fuel of the generator here will run out on Monday. 35 patients are struggling in the ICU, while 60 patients are on dialysis.
The worst war since 1973
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, 2,670 have died in the Gaza Strip and 54 in the West Bank, while more than 10,000 have been injured. This number is higher than those killed in the 2014 Gaza war, which lasted more than six days. At the same time, more than 1,300 people have been killed in the attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7. This is proving to be a more gruesome battle for Israel than the war with Egypt and Syria in 1973.
