Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed the ongoing protest by doctors in Kolkata, urging them to return to work while assuring them that their demands will be thoroughly examined. In a heartfelt speech, she spoke about her own experiences with struggle, empathizing with the protesting doctors and vowing to find a solution through proper channels.

Mamata Banerjee’s Connection with Student Movements

Speaking to the protesters, Mamata Banerjee said, “I have come forward by leading the student movement, I have also struggled a lot in my life, and I understand your struggle. I am not worried about my position. It rained all night yesterday, and you were sitting here protesting. I was worried all night.” Her words echoed her own history of activism, and she expressed her deep understanding of their challenges.

Commitment to Addressing the Doctors’ Demands

The Chief Minister made it clear that she takes the doctors’ demands seriously and is committed to studying them carefully. “After listening to your demands, I will study them. I do not run the government alone, and I will definitely find a solution by studying your demands with senior officials,” she added.

Banerjee also reassured the medical community that the state government will take appropriate steps. “Whoever is found guilty will definitely be punished,” she said, addressing the underlying concerns regarding the issues that sparked the protest.

No Immediate Action Against Protesting Doctors

In a gesture of goodwill, the Chief Minister announced that the state government would not take any immediate action against the protesting doctors. “I am asking for some time from you. The state government will not take any action against you,” she stated. Her appeal to the doctors was clear: return to work while the government takes the necessary time to investigate and respond to their demands.

Banerjee also expressed her confidence in the government’s ability to resolve the situation, saying, “I will definitely find a solution.” She emphasized that addressing the demands would involve collaboration with senior officials to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.

Call to Return to Work

The Chief Minister urged the protesting doctors to return to their duties, stressing the importance of maintaining hospital operations. “I request you to return to work,” she said, asking them to trust her leadership in finding a resolution. Banerjee assured them that the government is already working on hospital development, security, and infrastructure, and will continue to do so moving forward.

Ongoing Efforts to Improve Healthcare Infrastructure

Banerjee highlighted the efforts being made to enhance healthcare infrastructure and security within hospitals across the state. “All the work related to the development, infrastructure, and security of the hospital has been started and will be done further,” she said, indicating that the government is committed to improving the conditions in which healthcare workers operate.

While the protesting doctors’ concerns remain at the forefront, Banerjee’s speech reflected a balanced approach of empathy, patience, and action. Her call for the doctors to resume their duties while the government works towards a solution underscores her commitment to addressing the issues in a responsible and constructive manner.

As the protest continues, Banerjee’s leadership will be tested as she navigates this sensitive situation. Her promise to review the demands and hold those responsible accountable has offered a glimmer of hope to the medical community, while her appeal for doctors to return to work aims to maintain essential healthcare services for the people of West Bengal.
