West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose will meet Trinamool Congress leaders at Raj Bhavan on Monday at 4 pm. According to official sources, the issue of withholding of MNREGA funds by the Center to the state will be discussed with the Governor.
The official said that Bose has agreed to give time to TMC leaders for a meeting at Raj Bhavan at 4 pm on Monday.
Raj Bhavan is "Jan Raj Bhavan"
Bose said that Raj Bhavan is "people's Raj Bhavan". Anyone is welcome there from 4 am to 11 pm. Any leader of any party is welcome at Raj Bhavan. Those who want to meet me, I will definitely meet them any time till 11 pm.
Earlier in the day, Bose had said he would meet people deprived of MNREGA work in the state and raise their grievances with New Delhi. However, there was no confirmation whether he would meet TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee or not.
Bose wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary
A source in the Governor's House said that Bose, who returned to Kolkata from Darjeeling after assessing the flood situation in North Bengal, had written a letter to Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi asking whether permission was given for TMC's ongoing dharna outside the Raj Bhavan. .
The Governor wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary seeking to know whether TMC was given proper permission to stage a protest outside the Raj Bhavan. He also asked the Chief Secretary whether there was any violation of law in allowing the decision. The party will protest outside his residence in the state, where section 144 of CrPC is to be imposed for 150 metres.
Got positive answer
Bose said the state government responded to his letter in a very positive manner. He said these are routine controls expected from the Governor. Such letters sometimes go to the government. A reply has come which is very positive.
In Kalimpong, Bose said that he will talk to the underprivileged. I will listen to their complaints directly. After that, I will talk to not only the Center but all concerned parties.
Incidentally, a three-member TMC delegation met Bose in Darjeeling on Saturday, where they presented demands regarding clearance of financial dues of the state under the scheme.
Meanwhile, the indefinite strike outside Raj Bhavan by TMC workers led by senior leader Abhishek Banerjee entered the fourth day on Sunday with the agitators saying their agitation would continue until Bose meets them at the protest site.
The Rural Development Ministry had on October 5 said that the release of funds to West Bengal, as per Section 27 of MNREGA, was stopped from March 9, 2022, due to non-compliance by the state with the Central government's directions.
