A 50-year-old woman, Pushpa Devi, from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, was attacked by a wolf while she was sleeping. She is currently being treated at the hospital.

In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old woman named Pushpa Devi was reportedly attacked by a wolf late on Wednesday night while she was sleeping in her home. The attack took place around 10 pm, and the woman was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where she is receiving medical treatment for her injuries.

Pushpa Devi’s son-in-law, Dinesh, narrated the terrifying sequence of events. “The incident took place at 10 pm when she was sleeping. One of the children might have opened the door and it (the wolf) was hiding somewhere,” Dinesh explained. “It came and grabbed her by the throat. The family members heard her cry and ran towards her to find out. The people in the neighbourhood also gathered, and then it (the wolf) ran away. I was not present there when it happened.”

Details of the Incident

The attack occurred in Bahraich, a district in Uttar Pradesh known for its proximity to forested areas that house various wildlife species, including wolves. According to local sources, Pushpa Devi was sleeping in her home when the wolf managed to enter. It is believed that a door left ajar by a child provided access for the animal. The wolf reportedly went straight for Pushpa Devi, attacking her by the throat.

Her screams alerted her family members and nearby residents, who rushed to her aid. The commotion caused the wolf to flee the scene, and emergency services were called immediately. Pushpa Devi was transported to a local hospital, where doctors are treating her for injuries sustained in the attack. The extent of her injuries remains unclear, but medical personnel are monitoring her condition closely.

Community in Shock

The incident has left the local community in shock and fear, with many residents expressing concerns over the increased presence of wild animals in the area. It is not uncommon for wolves to wander into villages near forested regions, especially when they are searching for food. However, a direct attack on a human is considered rare and alarming.

Local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution, especially at night, and to ensure that doors and windows are securely closed. The forest department has been notified of the incident and has initiated a search to locate the wolf that attacked Pushpa Devi. They have also promised to increase patrolling in the vicinity to prevent any future occurrences.

Wildlife Experts Weigh In

Wildlife experts suggest that the wolf might have entered the village due to habitat encroachment or a scarcity of prey in its natural habitat. “Wolves are typically shy and avoid human contact. An attack like this indicates either a very desperate animal or one that has been disoriented,” commented a wildlife conservationist familiar with the area’s fauna. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe distance from wild animals and taking preventive measures to avoid such unfortunate incidents.

The state authorities have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the villagers and mitigate any further risk from wildlife. The local community is now calling for heightened measures and awareness to prevent any such attacks in the future.

Ongoing Investigation

The local police and wildlife officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. They have also reached out to Pushpa Devi’s family for a more detailed account of the incident. Meanwhile, Pushpa Devi remains under medical observation, and her family is hopeful for a swift recovery.

As this is a developing story, more information will be shared as it becomes available. The local administration is on high alert, and residents have been advised to report any sightings of wild animals immediately.
