The transformation did not go unnoticed because taking one of the most emblematic Italian sports cars of the 80s and modifying it in such a radical way is an idea that for some is fascinating and for others directly unforgivable.

Behind this peculiar creation is Gas Monkey Garage, the well-known American workshop led by Richard Rawlings. The project was named “F6” and was conceived together with the French builder Alexandre Danton, recognized for his extreme works at Danton Arts Kustoms.
A collaboration that aimed very high
The partnership between both parties did not come out of nowhere. Some time ago they had collaborated on the construction of a modified AM General Humvee with six wheels and a Hellcat engine. That vehicle ended up selling for about $750,000 at a Barrett-Jackson auction, proving that there was a market for this type of unconventional creation.
Encouraged by that success, they decided to up the ante. The choice fell on the Ferrari Testarossa, a model that is already considered a legend within the automotive industry.
The intention was not just to add an additional axle. The objective was to develop an extreme machine with an estimated power close to 1,200 horsepower and a presence that was impossible to ignore.
Problems during construction
However, the road was far from easy. As the development of the vehicle progressed, differences began to arise between those responsible for the project.
As Rawlings explained, some of the initial work did not meet the standards required by Gas Monkey Garage, so numerous components had to be dismantled and remade. Criticism also appeared from the French side related to the recognition of the work carried out and economic issues linked to the project.
Tensions grew publicly, although that did not prevent the Texan workshop from continuing with construction.
A Ferrari that leaves no one indifferent
Beyond the controversy, the final result is one of the most striking preparations that have been seen based on a Ferrari Testarossa. The chassis had to be profoundly modified to support the extra weight and manage the enormous power expected for the vehicle.
As expected, opinions remain divided. Ferrari's most purist followers consider that intervening on a classic in this way is a true sacrilege. On the other hand, those who enjoy the culture of extreme customization see in the F6 a sample of limitless creativity.
The truth is that the six-wheeled Ferrari has already achieved something important. Regardless of whether you like it or not, it managed to become one of the most talked about and controversial projects in the world of modified cars.
