BPSC Exam Chaos: Question Paper Leak Allegations Spark Outrage

BPSC Exam Controversy: Allegations of leaked question paper spark chaos in Patna. Read the complete story, including the BPSC Chairman’s statement and ongoing investigations.
Exam centers in Patna and other districts witness uproar as candidates claim question paper leak. Authorities refute the allegations, citing an organized attempt to disrupt the process.
Chaos Unfolds During BPSC Examination
The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, conducted on Sunday, witnessed significant disruption in Patna and several other districts. Candidates alleged that the question paper had been leaked, leading to delays in its distribution at certain centers. The controversy escalated when rumors spread rapidly among examinees, prompting protests and chaotic scenes.
Some candidates reportedly walked out of the examination halls, waving question papers and urging others to boycott the exam. They argued that if the paper had been leaked, the integrity of the entire examination process was compromised.
BPSC Chairman Denies Leak Allegations
Responding to the allegations, BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai firmly denied that the question paper was leaked. Addressing the media, he stated, “At approximately 12:15 PM, a few candidates at one center in Patna started spreading rumors that the paper had been leaked. This claim is entirely baseless. Our team conducted thorough checks, and there is no evidence to support these allegations.”
Manubhai further clarified that 911 examination centers across the state conducted the exam peacefully, barring a few disruptions at the Bapu Examination Center in Patna. “Even at the Bapu Center, most candidates completed their exams. Only a handful of individuals caused disturbances by spreading misinformation,” he added.
Investigation Underway
The commission has launched an inquiry into the events at the Bapu Examination Center. CCTV footage from the premises is being reviewed to verify the claims made by the protesting candidates. Preliminary findings indicate that two candidates were seen throwing question papers outside the examination hall, allegedly to create a scene.
“We are investigating every aspect, including the accusations of delayed question paper distribution,” said Manubhai. “Initial reports suggest that the delay, if any, was limited to one specific room, which is not uncommon during large-scale examinations.”
BPSC Secretary Reports Successful Exam Completion
Providing further clarity on the situation, BPSC Secretary Kundan Kumar highlighted that the examination was successfully completed by 68% of registered candidates across the state. “A supervisor was appointed for every 25 candidates to ensure smooth conduct of the exam,” he said.
Regarding the allegations of delayed question paper distribution, Kumar questioned the logic behind such claims. “If there were delays, how did over 5,500 candidates manage to write the exam at the same center?” he remarked. Kumar emphasized that the commission is committed to maintaining the credibility of its examinations and is taking all necessary steps to address the grievances raised.
Reactions from the Candidates
The reactions from candidates have been mixed. While some expressed frustration over the alleged mismanagement, others dismissed the allegations as distractions created by a small group. “The question paper was distributed on time in my room,” said a candidate from Patna. “The rumors created unnecessary panic and disrupted the environment for others.”
On the other hand, those who protested demanded a reevaluation of the examination process. “We want transparency,” said a disgruntled candidate. “If the paper was leaked, it should be canceled immediately to ensure fairness for all aspirants.”
Authorities Assure Fair Investigation
The BPSC has assured candidates and stakeholders that every aspect of the controversy will be thoroughly investigated. “We have already identified the individuals involved in spreading rumors, and appropriate action will be taken against them,” said Chairman Manubhai.
Officials are working to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future examinations. Measures include stricter monitoring of examination centers, enhanced security protocols, and a more robust grievance redressal system.
Challenges in Conducting Competitive Exams
The incident highlights the challenges faced by authorities in conducting large-scale competitive examinations in India. From logistical issues to security breaches, maintaining the sanctity of such exams is a constant battle. The BPSC episode serves as a reminder of the need for continuous improvements in examination processes to build trust among candidates.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on upholding the principles of fairness and accountability. Both candidates and officials hope that the truth will emerge soon, restoring confidence in the system.
