Despite the fact that the gender pay gap remains a significant problem in the United States, there are cities where women earn more than men. In 40 American cities, the female workforce is valued more for their salaries (they earn more) than their male counterparts, according to a study based on data from the American Community Survey (ACS).

This analysis, conducted by GOBankingRates, looked at the median earnings of female workers and compared them to the median earnings of men.

It's important to clarify the difference between median and average wages: the median wage is the value found in the middle of all wages, while the average wage is obtained by adding all wages and dividing by the total number of workers. In the case of the study, median wages were used as a reference.

One of the most interesting findings is that in Jacksonville, North Carolina, women earn 20.55% more than men. Although salaries in this city are relatively low, with women earning around $32,768 per year compared to $27,181 for men, the difference is significant. This city ranks number one.

Other cities where women outperform men in terms of salary include Sun City, Arizona, where women earn 19.61% more than men. In this city, female workers receive a median salary of $58,109, while men earn $48,582. This is quite a noticeable difference in favor of women.

Chamblee, Georgia, comes in third, with an 18.95% difference between women's and men's salaries. Female workers earn $58,590 per year, while men receive $49,256.

The report also reveals that other cities such as Lake Worth Beach, Florida, and Morgantown, West Virginia, have wage gaps in favor of women of 16.34% and 13.98%, respectively.

In total,There are several cities where women earn more than men, although the salaries of female workers in these areas are not always high. However, the trend of women gaining ground in the salary arena is increasingly noticeable, especially in areas where they have greater representation in the workforce.

In cities like Coral Terrace, Florida, women earn 12.47% more than men, and in Seaside, California, the difference is 12.10%. Additionally, other localities like Greenacres, Florida, and Eureka, California, also appear on the list with women earning more than men.

Although the gender wage gap still exists in most U.S. cities, this data shows that there are regions where women have managed to break through traditional economic barriers. The numbers indicate that the fight for pay equity is making progress, although much remains to be done at the national level.

The study also mentions other cities such as Carbondale, Illinois, and Ives Estate, Florida, where women outearn men, but by a smaller margin. The gap in these places is between 5% and 8%.

There are cities with a minimal difference in salaries between women and men that, despite not being that different, are worth mentioning: Vero Beach South, Florida (7.26%), Laurel, Maryland (6.25%), Pahrump, Nevada (5.47%), Goleta, California (5.12%), and Desert Hot Springs, California (4.27%).
