An apparent video game transaction resulted in a deadly shooting Thursday afternoon at the Cranbrook Forest apartment complex, located north of Houston, authorities reported.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Department (HCSO), a young man in his 20s died at the scene, while a 38-year-old man was injured A 38-year-old man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Sergeant Greg Pinkins of the Homicide Division explained that the wounded man had gone to the residential complex to sell a PlayStation to the young man who died. A third man joined the encounter. According to the report, during the transaction, a third individual—not yet identified—appeared and started an argument that quickly escalated into a shooting. The suspect fled the scene before the arrival of sheriff's deputies. Authorities confirmed that at least two people were armed, although it has not yet been determined who fired the fatal shots. At least one firearm was recovered at the scene as evidence. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Ella Boulevard and W. Rankin Road. The area remained cordoned off for several hours while investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
