Nippon Goswami breathed his last at a private hospital in Guwahati on Thursday. Hospital sources gave this information. Goswami was 80 years old and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law. His wife died in 2015. Goswami was born in Tezpur and his father was an actor and mother was a singer. Goswami made her debut in the world of acting as a child artist with the Assamese film 'Peyoli Phukan'.

He started his film career as a lead actor in the Assamese film 'Sangram' and after that another super hit film 'Dr. Bezbarua' was seen. Nippon Goswami acted in 50 Assamese language films. His major films are 'Mukuta', 'Sandhya Raag', 'Ajoli Nobou', 'Aparupa', 'Ghar Sangsar', 'Kokadeuta Nati Aaru Hati', 'Siraj', 'Deutar Biya', 'Baibhav', 'Hiya Diya Niya'. are included in. His last Assamese film was 'Lankakand' directed by Rajni Burman.

The Chief Minister said that the sensitive roles played by Goswami in many Assamese films will always be alive in the minds of the people and his contribution to the film industry will always be remembered.
