Through her Instagram stories, the Barranquilla native shared a statement to express her displeasure over the cancellation of the shows.
"Nothing is more painful for an artist than having to cancel two sold-out stadium concerts in Boston and Washington DC, for reasons beyond their control," said the singer.
Shakira also took the opportunity to thank her fans for the support they have given her in recent days following the cancellation of the shows.
"Thank you for being there through the good times and the bad. We've been through the worst of times together and you always get me through. I love you all," she said.
The singer was scheduled to perform on the 29th and 31st at Fenway Park in Boston and Nationals Park in Washington as part of her Las Mujeres No Ya Cry world tour.
So far, the exact cause of the cancellation is unknown. Shakira's show in Boston, although it is believed that it was due to a defect that occurred during the assembly of the stage at Fenway Park.
Meanwhile, Nationals Park in Washington reported that due to what happened in Boston, Shakira's production team would not be able to travel to be on time for the Colombian's next performance.
When did Shakira's North American tour begin?
The second week of May, Shakira began the North American leg of her Las Mujeres No Ya Lloran tour. The first show was in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the second in New Jersey.
In the first show of the tour, Shakira had Alejandro Sanz as a special guest, with whom she sang her hit song "La Tortura."
In the following shows, the Barranquilla native was accompanied by Ozuna, Rauw Alejandro, and Pitbull.
In the next few days, the singer will perform in cities such as Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Atlanta, Orlando, San Antonio, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego,San Francisco, among others.
The North American leg of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour is expected to end in June, and the singer will return to Mexico in August for 15 shows.
Between September and November, the singer will perform in the Dominican Republic and Peru as part of the shows she rescheduled after they were canceled.
