Thalia celebrated 30 years of Maria la del barrio
The Mexican singer and actress shared a series of unpublished images from the telenovela she starred in in 1995 and that won the hearts of millions.
Thalia celebrated with great emotion the 30 years of the iconic telenovela Maria la del barrio, a classic that marked her career and left a mark on audiences around the world.
Through her Instagram account, the Mexican singer and actress shared an emotional message accompanied by unpublished images and videos of the production that she launched in 1995.
30 years of our beloved Maria la del barrio! This character taught us so much... to get up when we fall, to understand that our origins do not define our destiny and that we should never, ever forget where we come from," wrote Thalia.
The singer recalled how the story of Maria Hernandez, a humble young woman who is taken in by a millionaire after the death of her godmother, managed to connect with people from different parts of the world, even those who did not speak Spanish, due to the character's authenticity and wit.
"It's been 30 years of a story that has given us so much, that connected with people from all over the world. Even those who didn't speak Spanish fell in love with Maria's authenticity and her wit," she said.
Furthermore, Thalia deeply thanked her followers for keeping this story alive for three decades.
"Eternally grateful for having been the channel to connect with you through this story, and that it continues to be a perfect excuse to unite the whole family. And with great honor," she concluded her message.
The singer also shared several photos of a huge cake decorated with photos from the soap opera to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Maria la del barrio has aired in more than 60 countries and has been dubbed into multiple languages, including Arabic, Indonesian, Serbian, Romanian, Chinese, Italian, and Portuguese. The soap opera is part of the famous "Trilogy of the Marias" along with Maria Mercedes and Marimar.
