America signed the peace with the authorities and will have a public in the classic vs. Chivas
America reached an agreement with the Benito Juarez Mayor's Office of Mexico City and starting with the classic vs. Chivas, it will be able to play its home games with fans
The board of directors of America and the authorities of the Benito Juarez Mayor's Office of Mexico City smoked the peace pipe and for that reason it was decided to lift the sanction against the stadium of the City of Sports and thus be able to authorize access to the public in the national classic vs. Chivas, on Saturday, September 13.
The above is derived from the meeting held by the Aguilas board of directors with officials from this demarcation located in the southwest of the Mexican capital, where the rough edges that arose from the decision to prevent the American team from playing with an audience last Saturday against Pachuca, in the activity of the 7th date of the Apertura 2025 tournament, were smoothed out.
The history of the sanction
The sanction was imposed on the American team as a result of the violation of the agreements for holding matches at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium by closing an important road such as Indiana Street, affecting the traffic of residents who live in the vicinity of the stadium, supposedly endangering the life of a neighbor who required access to emergency medical services.
This situation resulted in the mayor of Benito Juarez, Luis Mendoza Acevedo and his administrative staff, imposed the sanction on the owners of this sports facility, which ended up affecting America.
For that reason, America urged both parties to reach an express agreement last Friday and Saturday so that their fans could access the stadium for the match against Pachuca. But since there was no agreement, the Aguilas played behind closed doors and the large media apparatus of the television company Televisa, which supports the Coapa team, launched a smear campaign against the head of Benito Juarez.
But the politician was undeterred and firmly maintained the punishment for having violated the logistics rules for the area outside the stadium. A meeting was scheduled for this Tuesday that ended with satisfactory agreements for both parties.
America will play the classic and the rest of the tournament with an audience
Under this tenor, the doubts and fears that were generated in the sense that the classic of classics against Chivas could be played in Queretaro, Puebla or Toluca, were discarded, since everything was agreed so that on September 13 the Eagles will receive Chivas at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium, in a duel with full access for fans.
The agreements were published by the Benito Juarez Mayor's Office on its social networks, where both parties established the following points so that from this day on, the use of the soccer venue is guaranteed under the operation of a "Safe Stadium" where six points were included, highlighting the fourth section in which the realization of the matches with access to the public is guaranteed.
"The Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium notified the mayor's office of the notices of public shows and Contingency plans for Civil Protection and security for the next seven matches/events scheduled by the MX Football League (4 women's and 3 men's) to be held in the next 4 weeks," it reads.
The points of the Benito Juarez Mayor's Office
Within the points of agreement, the Benito Juarez Mayor's Office highlighted the following points that must govern the realization of the matches of the men's and women's categories and that establish that the security operation called "Ladrillera" will remain in force, which will determine the closure of partial or total roads in the surroundings of the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium according to the capacity of each match.
It was even established that the personnel of the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium will be in charge of access control, security and logistics, but "inside the stadium", while outside the venue it is the Benito Juarez mayor's office that coordinates and executes, together with the Secretariat of Citizen Security, the operation "having under its charge the roads in the terms established in the "Ladrillera" operation.
Under this criterion it was clarified that after the corresponding documentation: "There is no impediment to holding the events, and the safety of all residents and attendees is guaranteed," the authority concluded.
