Netflix reveals a first preview of “Scooby-Doo: Origins”
The streaming platform shared a clip that shows the first meeting between the puppy Scooby-Doo and Shaggy
Netflix continues to expand its commitment to nostalgic reinventions and has just presented a preview of its next live-action series based on the famous Scooby-Doo. Under the official title “Scooby-Doo: Origins”, the production is currently filming in Atlanta and is scheduled for release in 2027.
In a video published on the platform's social networks, fans can enjoy a scene that promises to awaken the tenderness of the franchise's followers: the beloved detective dog, still a puppy, runs through a forest near a summer camp.
In his escape, he runs into who will become his best friend and companion for life, Shaggy. The image, simple but loaded with symbolism, has already begun to circulate massively among followers of the original series.
A modern reinvention
The series, described by the platform as “a modern reinvention of the beloved cartoon,” as cited by Variety, will feature a group of young actors to give life to the legendary Mystery Inc.: Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers; Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley and Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake.
Additionally, actor Paul Walter Hauser is also scheduled to appear in the series in an as yet undisclosed role. Netflix had already shared a first early look at this cast in April, generating great expectation among followers.
What is “Scooby-Doo: Origins” about?
The official synopsis advances a plot that combines mystery, friendship and a supernatural touch:
"During their last summer at camp, old friends Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Grace) become embroiled in a disturbing mystery surrounding a lost and lonely Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. Together with pragmatic citizen scientist Velma (Fortson) and the strange but very handsome new boy, Freddy (Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that is dragging each of them into a haunting nightmare that threatens to reveal all their secrets."
For now, Scooby-Doo fans will have to wait until next year to enjoy the series. However, it promises to be one of its biggest and best releases in 2027.
