On Friday, a supplementary question was asked to the Health Minister regarding AIIMS Madurai, on which the Union Health Minister's statement created ruckus in the House and DMK and Congress walked out of the House. In fact, in his reply in the Lok Sabha, the Health Minister accused the opposition of giving misinformation and doing politics, which left the DMK MPs furious. Some BJP MPs also stood on the seat in support of the Union Health Minister and there was an uproar in the House. 

In fact, while answering a supplementary question, the Union Health Minister said that medical courses are being run in AIIMS Madurai and Rs 1900 crore has been given for infrastructure. On this, DMK MPs said that AIIMS Madurai is not ready yet. On this, Health Minister Mandaviya accused the DMK leaders of giving wrong information in the House and misleading the people. Mandaviya said that 'some people want to do politics on everything. I know why he is doing this because we have taken strict action against those medical colleges which do not have faculty, do not have infrastructure and do not have patients. This has been done in response to that'. 

Mandaviya said that such irregularities will not be tolerated in the Modi government. We will continue to take strict action against such medical colleges. After this statement of Mandaviya, DMK and Congress MPs reacted strongly. On which some BJP MPs also came in support of Mandaviya and stood on their seats and started speaking loudly. DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran looked very angry and said 'who is he, who is talking like this'. They are blackmailing us, threatening us'. 

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla tried to pacify the matter but angry MPs from DMK and Congress walked out of the House. Earlier, the Health Minister told the House that the Modi government has taken several steps to increase the number of medical colleges in the country. In the year 2014, there were 387 medical colleges in the country which have increased to 657 today. The central government has also given relief in the rules for opening medical colleges. Mandaviya said that in the year 2022 itself, 37 medical colleges have been approved and the application process of 89 is under scrutiny. 

Mandaviya informed about the Ayushman Health Insurance Scheme, under the government's health insurance scheme, a total of 4.34 crore people have been approved for hospitalization by spending Rs. This figure is till February 2 this year. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave information about this in the Lok Sabha on Friday. In a written reply to a question, he said the average per capita expenditure under the scheme is Rs 11,924.

He also informed that till February 2, 2023, a total of 23.07 crore beneficiaries have been verified under the scheme of issuing Ayushman cards. A budget of Rs 6,412 crore has been allocated to be utilized under PMJAY for the year 2022-23 and till February 2, Rs 4,580.10 crore has been utilised.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told in the Lok Sabha on Friday that the NEET-PG exam for medical candidates seeking admission in postgraduate medical courses will be held on March 5 as per schedule. Will. He gave this information while replying to a supplementary question by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. During this, he also said that the ministry has increased the cut-off for internship for those MBBS candidates whose internship is yet to be completed so that no one is left out of the exam.

He pointed out that during the past 60 days, more than 90 new variants of SARS-CoV2 have been detected in samples analyzed by genome sequencing laboratories. This analysis has been done by the national multi-agency consortium INSACOG. 

He said that Omicron and all its variants are predominantly made in India. Out of these, XBB and BQ are the most prevalent sub-variants in the country. 

Minister Bharti Praveen Pawar further said that to address any surge in demand for medical oxygen, the central government has extended support to states in increasing availability, streamlining distribution and strengthening oxygen storage infrastructure in the country.
