Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning by issuing summons in the money laundering case. However, he did not appear before the ED. Now in this matter, West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has taken a dig at the central agency, calling it 'stupid'.

The West Bengal Congress President, in Murshidabad, West Bengal, accused the Center of misusing these agencies and said that the ED is being run under the orders of the Central Government. He said, 'Who will be summoned by ED and who will not be summoned, it is ED's own matter. All we know is that our ED is 'stupid' and it only works on the instructions of the (central) government. ED summons is nothing but a conspiracy against Farooq Abdullah.

This is not the first time that opposition leaders have made such allegations. Even before this, Adhir Ranjan had criticized ED and called it 'stupid'. Speaking on the central agency issuing a lookout circular against TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh after the attack on the ED team last week, the Congress MP had said, what will the ED do? ED himself is a fool. The ruling party in Bengal will take care of him.

According to official sources, the 86-year-old politician was summoned in connection with the investigation into irregularities in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). ED had filed a chargesheet against Farooq, MP from Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, in the year 2022. The charge sheet is based on the charge sheet filed by the CBI in 2018.

At the same time, West Bengal Congress President and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has also written a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He has requested in the letter that the issue of increased passenger fares during the pandemic should be reviewed and it should be immediately withdrawn.
