Although there are still many decades to go, NASA has already recorded the date of what will be the longest total solar eclipse in known history.
According to calculations from the Five Millennium Canon of Solar Eclipses, the most accurate astronomical catalog compiled by the US space agency, this phenomenon will occur on July 16, 2186, and will last an astonishing 7 minutes and 29 seconds, something that will not be repeated for over 10,000 years.
This eclipse will exceed the previous record by several seconds and will approach the theoretical duration limit for a total eclipse, estimated at 7 minutes and 32 seconds. NASA explained that this event will be possible thanks to an exceptional alignment of orbital conditions between the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun. It will be visible primarily over the Atlantic Ocean and areas near South America and West Africa.

The duration of a solar eclipse depends on factors such as the distance between the Earth and the Moon, the position of the Earth's orbit, and the angle of the shadow cast on the planet.
