Raul Jimenez shines in the Carabao Cup by beating Bristol City 2-0
Raul Jimenez made his first appearance in the Fulham attack by scoring one of the two goals with which they beat Bristol City in the Carabao Cup
Raul Jimenez made his first appearance this season in Fulham's attack by scoring a great goal in the 2-0 victory over Bristol City, which allowed the "Cottagers" to advance to the next round in the Carabao Cup and where the so-called “Wolf of Tepeji” had an outstanding performance.
Jimenez scored the goal that made it 2-0 in the 21st minute, sending Craven Cottage into a frenzy in a move that started with a corner kick and where the Mexican national team striker received the ball in the area to unleash a tremendous cross shot that left the opposing goalkeeper with no chance in this second round match of the League Cup.
The scoring was opened by an own goal by Bristol City midfielder George Tanner in a play where Raul Jimenez was already cocking the rifle to pave the way for his team to win in an overwhelming start by the home squad.
Twelfth season in Europe with a goal
Jimenez’s goal is the first of the tournament in three matches he has played so far, two in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup, which allowed the Mexican striker to add his twelfth season in Europe, scoring at least one goal.
Raul played a leading role in his squad's success in this match, managing to put the opposing defense in trouble, who had to do their best to control Raul Jimenez and the Cottagers' attack.
Jimenez is in his second wind in his stay in the Premier League, after that unfortunate episode in which he almost lost his life in November 2020 when in a head clash with Arsenal's Brazilian defender David Luiz, the Mexican got the worst of it with a skull fracture that put his life and his football career at risk.
Fortunately, he recovered, but not one hundred percent in the short term, as his football level dropped considerably and he had to leave Wolverhampton to join Fulham and from that moment on write a new story in football.
Raul Jimenez hopes to be considered for the duel against his neighbor Chelsea, current Club World Cup champion, this Saturday, August 30, in Matchday 3 of the English League, where they will look for their first victory of the campaign after two draws in the same number of matches played and trying to overcome their adversary who has four points with one win and one draw.
