Vivek Ramaswamy is demonstrating his power to attract donors to support his aspirations to become governor of Ohio
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who ran for the Republican nomination for president last year, announced that he has raised close to $10,000,000 dollars to achieve his dream of becoming governor his campaign to become governor of Ohio.
Although at the beginning of this year it was projected that the billionaire of Indian roots would serve as co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), when he saw the opportunity presented to him to compete to fill the position of Richard Michael DeWine, whose term expires in 2026, he did not hesitate and decided to go out and campaign.
After expressing his concerns to President Donald Trump, the New York magnate gave him the green light to try to keep Ohio as a Republican state.
"VIVEK RAMASWAMY is running for Governor of the great state of Ohio. I know him well, I competed against him and he is something SPECIAL. He is young, strong and smart," he wrote.
Since then, Ramaswamy has organized more than 50 fundraising events and accumulated more than 40,000 donors.
Through a statement, Jonathan Ewing, his campaign manager, announced that, in four months, the 39-year-old businessman has raised $9.7 million.
“Raising this historic amount in just four months sends a powerful message: Ohioans are eager for bold, transformational leadership to propel our state to new heights.
The remarkable increase in support in the final week of the quarter exceeded all expectations, proving that Vivek is uniting people across the state and is ready to usher in a new era of prosperity and opportunity for all Ohioans,” the letter reads in part.
So far, the only rival who has filed to run against Vivek Ramaswamy is Democrat Amy Acton, former Ohio health director.
However,His chances of winning the election are slim considering the crisis his party is going through and the fact that Republicans have been governing Ohio for 14 years, as the last Democrat to do so was Theodore Strickland, whose term expired on January 10, 2011.
