During his stay, he took the opportunity to make it clear that his time as an active competitor has definitively ended, closing the door to speculation about future main cards.
A decision made with conviction
At 38 years old, with his 39th birthday coming up in September, Terence Crawford maintains a position of total satisfaction with his career.
The American fighter maintains that, after having achieved the most ambitious goals in the sport, there is not enough motivation to justify a return to high-performance physical activity.
In an interview with The Ring magazine, the boxer explained the psychology behind his departure: "That's part of boxing: when you retire with a lot left in the tank, they want you to come back. But, for me, I have nothing to prove, I have nothing to gain." This mentality reflects the tranquility with which the athlete has managed his departure.
The legacy of an undefeated fighter
Terence Crawford's career is remembered for its statistical perfection, closing with a record of 42 wins and no losses, including 31 wins by knockout.
His most significant milestone was becoming the first athlete to achieve undisputed champion status in three different weight classes: super lightweight, welterweight and super middleweight.
The highlight of this journey was the resounding unanimous decision victory over Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in September 2025 in Las Vegas. This triumph consolidated Terence Crawford as a historical figure, even surpassing promotional meetings in Egypt where destiny crossed the paths of both athletes again.
No plans to return to the ring
Although his name is frequently mentioned by promoters and fans who long to see him in action again, the American emphasizes the importance of retiring on time. For Terence Crawford, preserving health and physical integrity is a priority that surpasses any financial offer or additional recognition that sport could provide.
"I'm happily retired. My thing is: don't give them everything. Leave with something, so you have it for something else later," the boxer said.
