Hamzah Sheeraz knocked out to take the WBO belt and challenged Canelo
After winning his first belt, Hamzah Sheeraz aims to get a fight against the Mexican boxer
The vacant World Boxing Organization super middleweight championship has a new owner. The boxer Hamzah Sheeraz obtained the belt after defeating the German Alem Begic by knockout on a card held in Egyptian territory.
This title previously belonged to Mexican boxer Saúl Álvarez before being vacated due to the retirement of American Terence Crawford after dethroning the man from Guadalajara.

The fight ended two minutes and thirty-three seconds into the second round, marking a fast-track finish.
Domain from the opening bell
During the first round, Hamzah Sheeraz controlled the distance by using the jab consistently. The 39-year-old fighter failed to respond to attacks directed towards the middle area of his body, giving up ground in the ring.
The difference in pace between both athletes was evident from the first ring of the bell.
Hamzah Sheeraz's performance maintained the work momentum he showed in his previous victory against Edgar Berlanga last year.
The definition of fighting in the ring
In the second round, the British fighter landed several left hooks that made his opponent retreat. A left uppercut combined with a body blow sent Begic to the canvas, forcing the referee to stop the action.
After the end of the fight, the winner analyzed his technical performance. "To be honest, I did what I had to do, let's be clear. It was easy. I could see that he was very defensive from the first blow, so I just had to corner him and get him out of there," stated Hamzah Sheeraz in the official ring interview.
The horizon in the 168-pound division
With this result, the new monarch's record rises to 23 wins, zero losses and one draw, with 19 definitions by knockout. Hamzah Sheeraz's work team is already planning the next commercial moves within the super middleweight division.
Spencer Brown, the boxer's representative, told the media that the objective is to organize a confrontation against Saúl Álvarez. In addition, management plans to schedule a title defense in England in the short term for the new monarch.
