From the opening minutes, Morocco displayed a clear game plan: intensity, defensive order, and quick transitions. Argentina, for its part, tried to impose its possession-based style but struggled to break through the opposition's lines. In the 12th minute, a free kick from Zabiri found its way into the top left corner of goalkeeper Santino Barbi's line. It was 1-0 and the start of an unforgettable night for the Africans.
Despite the setback, Argentina didn't give up. Gianluca Prestianni and Maher Carrizo sought the equalizer with mid-range shots, but were unsuccessful. Morocco took advantage of the space, and in the 29th minute, Othmane Maamma broke down the right and again assisted Zabiri, who scored with his left foot to make it 2-0. The advantage, deserved by their efficiency and discipline, set the course of the match.
Argentina tried, but Morocco held firm.
In the second half, Diego Placente's team tried to react with the introductions of Santiago Fernandez and Tobias Andrada, who brought energy to the attack. However, the Moroccan defense, led by Ibrahim Gomis in goal, remained impenetrable. The South Americans controlled the ball, but lacked clarity in the final stretch. Each attempt crashed against the African tactical wall.
The final plays reflected Argentina's desperation and Morocco's calm. The North Africans knew how to cool down the match, take advantage of fouls, and keep the pace under control until the final whistle. With the final 2-0 victory, Morocco not only became the U-20 World Cup champion, but also the second African country to do so, after Ghana in 2009.
