Drama at Miss Universe: The tense crossing between Fatima Bosch and Nawat Itsaragrisil
The director of Miss Universe Thailand confronted the Mexican representative in a heated exchange that left thousands of internet users dissatisfied
The 74th edition of the Miss Universe pageant was marked by a tense moment during the sash ceremony, featuring Mexican Fatima Bosch and Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International and co-organizer of the event in Thailand.
This clash occurred after Nawat questioned the Tabasco native about not sharing content on social media about the host country, claiming that this refusal was motivated by her organization, Miss Universe Mexico.
“I heard you're not going to post anything about Thailand… is that true?” the businessman asked, visibly annoyed. "Are you going to follow our instructions or not? Can you work to promote Thailand or not? Yes or no?" Faced with the wave of questions, Fatima Bosch tried to explain her position: “That's not how it is. I think there's a misunderstanding. I don't know… I was doing a program… and it's not about which side is right or wrong,” she can be heard saying in the live broadcast from the official Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page. However, Nawat dismissed her message, saying: "She's a blockhead. If you follow the orders of your national director, you're a blockhead." This assertion quickly triggered the young woman's anger, who defended herself forcefully and clearly: “All delegates, as women, deserve respect. I'm here representing a country, and it's not my fault you have problems with my organization. What you've done isn't right… Because I have a voice, and “What you did wasn't right,” she declared. Nawat responded, raising her voice: “Yes, you have a voice, but you must show respect.” As a result, the Mexican woman retorts: “Yes, but you're not respecting me as a woman.” Upset by the situation, Fatima Bosch decided to get up and leave the area, to the astonishment of her colleagues. This action was questioned by the organizer, who, after trying to silence the Mexican woman, called security, The delegates disagreed with the treatment of the Latin American representative and began to stand up in support of her position, something Nawat disapproved of, saying, “If anyone wants to continue in the competition, sit down.” Once she left the room,Bosch addressed the media gathered outside the hotel to deliver a powerful message alluding to the situation. "I was insulted and disrespected in front of my fellow contestants," said Fatima Bosch, Miss Universe Mexico 2025. "As a country, you have my utmost respect. I truly love Thailand. I respect all of you; I think you are incredible people, but what the director did was disrespectful. I was insulted and disrespected in front of my fellow contestants. He called me stupid and yelled at me," she lamented. “I think the world needs to see this because we are empowered women.” The way he treated me for no reason is not right, and I hope that all women, no matter how big their dreams are, walk away from anyone who disrespects them,” she concluded her message.
