38 lakh people affected in 12 districts due to floods in Bihar
16 people have died due to floods in Bihar. At the same time, about 38.47 lakh population of 12 districts have been affected by this natural disaster. According to information received from the Disaster Management Department, maximum seven people have died in Darbhanga district and four in West Champaran so far due to floods in the state. A total of 38,47,531 population of 901 panchayats of 102 blocks of 12 districts of Bihar, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Supaul, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, East Champaran, West Champaran, Khagadia, Saran and Samastipur districts have been affected by the floods. Out of 3,09,511 people transported to places, 25,116 people have taken shelter in 19 relief camps.
Many rivers are in spate
Ganga, Gandak, Kosi and other rivers are flowing above the danger mark. In view of this, the state government has taken several measures to prevent floods. All gates of Farakka Barrage have been opened to reduce the risk of flood. Also, the embankments of Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, Kamla and other rivers are being monitored. The water level of the Ganges was above the danger mark in Kahalgaon on Wednesday for the fourth consecutive day. In Kahalgaon, the team of Water Resources Department was engaged in repairing the Ganga embankments. Along with this, the Western Kosi embankment was repaired in Bhadra in the area of Nepal. Departmental sources said that the work of repairing and monitoring the embankments of Kamla and Gandak rivers is also going on. Here, the Meteorological Department has also predicted rain in the catchment areas of Mahananda River, Kosi, Gandak, Kamla Balan and Budhi Gandak for the next three days.
