Differences have emerged between Kejriwal government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal regarding Delhi Unlock-3 in Delhi. LG Anil Baijal has rejected two important decisions taken by the Delhi government regarding Unlock-3. The Kejriwal government had given permission to open a hotel in Delhi and open a weekly market for a week on a trial basis. Both of these have been rejected by the Lieutenant Governor.
After two important decisions of the Delhi government were rejected, a situation of confrontation has arisen once again between the LG and Kejriwal cabinet. Earlier, LG had rejected a decision of the Delhi cabinet regarding a panel of lawyers for lobbying cases related to the Delhi riots.
Kejriwal government had given permission to hotels for work on Thursday
Earlier, the Delhi government took several important steps on Thursday to bring the economy back on track. Of this, hotels were allowed to start functioning and the weekly market was also allowed to open a week for trial. The government had said that a decision will be taken to open them in front of the review.
The Delhi government had set guidelines for Delhi on Thursday after the Central Government's Unlock-3 guidelines were issued. The nightly curfew issued from 10 am to 5 am has been abolished. Hotels in Delhi are no longer connected to hospitals, so the Delhi government decided to allow hotels to start normal operations. The central government has also allowed hospitality services under the guidelines of Unlock-3. In fact, the hotel owners were constantly demanding permission from the Delhi government to start functioning.
Lieutenant Governor rejected Delhi government's decision
Earlier on Thursday, another decision of the Delhi government was rejected by Lt. Governor Anil Baijal. This decision was to appoint a panel of lawyers in the Supreme Court and High Court to hear the case related to the riots in North-East Delhi. With this, LG ordered the Home Department of the Delhi government to approve the panel of Delhi Police. The Delhi government will have to implement this decision.
The Delhi government says that a meeting of the Delhi cabinet was held on Tuesday to appoint a panel of lawyers to defend the riots in north-east Delhi. In this, the Delhi government had rejected a panel of Delhi Police lawyers. The Delhi Cabinet was of the view that the investigation of the Delhi Police in relation to the riots has not been considered fair by the court. In such a situation, due to the approval of the police panel, fair trial of the case is not possible. LG overruled the Delhi Cabinet's decision using the authority found under Article 239 (AA) (4) of the Constitution.
