Noida building collapse: Three-storey building collapsed in Noida, 2 killed; DM ordered inquiry

District Magistrate Suhas Lai told that the City Magistrate has been ordered to investigate the case.

A section of a three-storey industrial unit building collapsed in Sector 11 of Kotwali Sector 24 area late Friday. Five people, including the wife of the owner of the industrial unit living in the building complex, were buried under the debris. Police and fire department teams took the injured out of the rubble and sent them to the hospital, where two died. While three are injured.

The two injured Ashu and Sagar have been referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The District Magistrate has ordered the City Magistrate to investigate the accident.

Gopi (24) and Jainendra (30), a resident of Kanpur, a plumber working in the building, Sagar (22), Shiv Vihar Delhi resident Ashu (25) and Kailash Bhardwaj (70), wife of RK Bhardwaj, were buried under the rubble. The area was stirred up after the accident. On information, police and fire department teams of Kotwali Sector 24 and 20 reached the spot and started relief work. Police took all the injured out of the rubble and rushed the hospital where Gopi and Jainendra were declared dead by doctors. By late night the NDRF team also reached the spot and started removing debris. The factory management says that only five people were present in the premises at the time of the accident.

DM took instructions for the investigation of the site

On the information of the accident, the District Magistrate Suhas L Wai, City Magistrate Umashankar Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police Shriparna Ganguly, DCP Sankalp Sharma and all the officials of Police Administration and Noida Authority reached the spot. The District Magistrate has formed a team of City Magistrate and Noida Development Authority to investigate the cause of the accident. The District Magistrate has informed the entire matter to the government.

The District Magistrate Suhas El Wai said that the City Magistrate has been ordered to investigate the matter. Information has been sought from the Noida Authority regarding how old the building is and its validity. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment. Further action will be taken after investigation.

On the plot located at F-62 in Sector 11, RK Bhardwaj, chairman of the Rashtriya Manuvadi Party, is the industrial unit for making electrical panels under the name of Shakti Technofeb Products. During the construction work, panel making was being done in the factory itself. Less than half of the workers were at work on Friday due to the Covid-19. He went home after finishing the shift at 5 pm. Around seven o'clock in the evening a part of the building collapsed.
