Latehar: Police of Jharkhand's militancy-hit district Latehar have taken major action against the Naxalite organization Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) on Saturday. Police has filed an FIR against 71 Naxalites, including JJMP supremo Pappu Lohra.
An encounter between the police and the JJMP took place in the afternoon on 10 September 2020 in Oraya and Kudpani forests of Sadar police station area. In the same case, the police has filed an FIR against the JJMP supremo Pappu Lohra against 26 terrorists and 45 unidentified militants in the Sadar police station.

Sadar police station in-charge Amit Kumar Gupta said that in addition to JJMP supremo Pappu Lohra who was involved in the encounter, nomination FIRs have been registered on 26 militants including Lovelesh, Vinay, Sushil, Sudhir Lohra, Mithun Lohra, Reyaz Ansari, Ganesh Lohra and Raghu.
The station in-charge also informed that a raid campaign is being conducted to arrest the militants. The diary and levy receipt recovered from the militants in the encounter are also being investigated.
On Thursday, security forces recovered an AK-47 and a homegrown rifle from a hideout of the extremists after two encounters between the police and militant outfit JJMP in the Oreya and Kudpani forests.
Police had said that for the last three days, a search operation was being carried out by the CRPF, Jharkhand Jaguar and District Police Force in Latehar area for the arrest of Naxalites.
Police said an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, an indigenous rifle, 17 AK-47 bullets, 50 other bullets, a motorcycle, 11 mobile phones, and other items were found from the Maoist hideout.
