Notification is issued from time to time by Indian Air Force for various recruitment procedures as Commissioned Officers and Airmen (Airmen).
Airmen are recruited in group X and Y
Recruitment as an air soldier is at the entry level, for which the youth are given the opportunity to be selected as airmen through direct recruitment or recruitment rally by the Central Air Force Selection Board (CASB) of the Indian Air Force. Airmen in the Indian Air Force are recruited in Group X and Group Y trades. Under Group X, direct recruitment is made to the posts of Air Force in the technical branches (mechanical, electrical, electronics, and IT streams) and education instructor trade. At the same time, recruitment process of Airmen is conducted in Group Y in General, Medical Assistant and Contemporary Trade. Air Force Group X - Qualification for Technical Trade
The minimum qualification prescribed for becoming an Air Force in Group X in the Air Force is 10 + 2 / Intermediate / Senior Secondary with a total of minimum 50% marks with Mathematics, Physics and English subjects. At the same time, candidates with a three-year diploma with a minimum of 50 percent marks in various prescribed streams from a recognized ITI can also apply. Along with the educational qualification, the age of the candidates should not be more than 21 years as on the date of application for Air Force posts. The minimum age limit is 17 years.
Qualification for Air Group Group X - Education Instructor Trade
On the other hand, only those candidates who are eligible for Air Force posts in Education Instructor Trade under Group X are eligible for a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university or institute and BA degree with English subject or Physics / Psychology / Chemistry / Mathematics. / IT / Computer Science / Statistics with a B.Sc degree or BCA degree. Apart from this, BEd degree with a minimum of 50 per cent marks from a recognized institution. The age limit prescribed for entry in education instructor trade is 20 years to 25 years with these educational qualifications.
At the same time, an MA in English / Psychology subject with minimum 50% marks or passed MSc or MCA in Mathematics / Physics / Statistics / Computer Science / IT - along with B.Ed degree candidates can also take an entry in Education Instructor Trade. The age limit for entry in education instructor trade with these educational qualifications is 20 to 28 years.
Qualification for Air Force Group Y
At the same time, the qualification prescribed for applying for Air Force posts in Group Y is 10 + 2 / Intermediate / Senior Secondary with minimum 50% marks from a recognized board. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50 per cent marks in English subject in class 12th. Additionally, the age of the candidate is less than 17 years on the date of application.
Air Force Group Y - Qualification for Medical Assistant Trade
Those candidates who are eligible to apply for Air Force posts in Medical Assistant Trade in Group Y are those with minimum Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects from a recognized board and 10 with minimum 50% marks with minimum 50% marks. Must have passed + 2 / Intermediate / Senior Secondary Examination. At the same time, the age of the candidate should not be less than 17 years and more than 21 years on the date of application.
Air Force Group Y - Qualification for Musician Trade
The minimum qualification prescribed for the post of Air Force in the Musician Trade in Group Y has been passed 10th from a recognized board. Also, one must master at least one of these music instruments - trumpet / bass / violin / saxophone / clarinet / euphonium / jazz-drum / piccolo / bass trombone / key board / guitar / sarod / viola / cello / contra Bass (string bass).
