Poonch Mine Blast: 2 jawans injured in landmine blast on Balakot control line in Poonch district

A patrol party of BSF personnel was visiting the areas along the Line of Control in Balakot.

While patrolling along the Balakot Line of Control in Mendhar sector of the district Poonch, two jawans were severely injured in the grip of landmine. Both the soldiers were admitted to Poonch Military Hospital. Where after providing first aid, one jawan was sent to Rajouri while the other seriously injured was sent to Udhampur Military Hospital. Both are currently undergoing treatment.

According to the information received from the police, the accident took place around 12.30 pm. A patrolling team of personnel was visiting areas adjacent to the Line of Control in Balakot to take stock of the border security. During this time the leg of two soldiers fell on the landmine. The two soldiers were seriously injured before they came to know about the landmine explosion. With the help of colleagues, both the soldiers were rushed to the hospital. According to doctors, the soldiers have suffered serious injuries.

The injured soldiers were identified as Sepoy Inayat Hussain, a BSF 59 battalion soldier, but these days the Army is attached to 14 Punjab Battalions. The other jawan has been identified as Sahil Kumar, a soldier of 14 Punjab Battalion. Officials say both the soldiers received serious injuries. The BSF jawan was shifted to District Rajouri Military Hospital after providing first aid to Poonch Hospital while he was admitted to Udhampur Military Hospital in view of the critical condition of another injured army man. Both are currently being treated.
