The government has decided to reopen higher educational institutions across the country closed due to Corona.

6th November, 2020

The government has decided to reopen higher educational institutions across the country closed due to Corona. But instead of setting a date, the heads of universities and educational institutions have been empowered to decide. But before that the consent of the state government will be necessary. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued detailed guidelines on Thursday.

Right to open after the consent of the state

Under the new academic calendar, the new academic session in universities and colleges has started from November 2. But it is running online. The UGC has clarified and said that if the university is ready to call students to classes and teach, then they can do so by following the safety standards set by taking permission from the state government. However they have been asked to open the classes in a phased manner. This is the reason that the guidelines issued by the UGC have asked for first research and postgraduate students, as their number is less. Along with this, the library and administrative building have been asked to open. However two yards and masks have been made mandatory during this time.

Apart from this, the organization has also given permission to organize placements for final year students from higher educational institutions. At the same time, at the start of classes, only half the total number of students will be allowed to come. Students who do not want to come to the classrooms due to the risk of infection, should make online study material and e-resources easily available. Along with this, the UGC has also asked the institutes to consider foreign students studying in the institutes, because at present, they cannot come due to the ban on visas.

Hostel will also open, but only one student will stay in one room

Meanwhile, the UGC has also allowed hostels to be opened under the prescribed safety standards, but only one student will be allowed to stay in one room. Also, if a student shows signs of corona, they will not be allowed to stay in the hostel. Instructions have also been given to keep a regular eye on the hostel. During this, students will also get the facility of council.
