After a long time Kolkata witnessed Rainfall but this became serious for a few.
One person has died and 15 have been injured in lightening strike at Victoria Memorial Complex in Kolkata as heavy rains battered the city and disrupted flight operations.
Traffic jams were reported in several parts of the city where heavy rainfall led to water-logging.
Several districts in West Bengal have been put on red alert - likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall - for the next 48 hours. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has set up control rooms to oversee the situation.
"In anticipation of formation of cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) is very likely to occur over districts of Gangetic West Bengal during next 48 hours," an official from the weather department said.
