The same police constable was arrested red handed taking bribe a day after receiving the 'Best Constable' Award in his district on Independence Day. He is posted at a police station in Mahbubnagar. On the occasion of Independence Day, Excise Minister V Srinivas honored him with a citation. Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari was also present during this period. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested Palle Tirupati Reddy taking bribe of Rs 17,000 from a sand trader in Mahbubnagar district of Telangana. Reddy was awarded the 'Best Constable' award for his dedication and hard work.
Accused sent to judicial custody
After the appearance in the court, the accused soldier has been sent to judicial custody. Complainant Ramesh alleges that the policeman was demanding money in lieu of not registering the case. The constable posted at the I-Town police station in Mahbubnagar was allegedly threatening the sand trader to seize his tractor. The constable demanded money, threatening to implicate Ramesh in a false case. Subsequently, Ramesh lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Agency, who caught the constable red-handed by laying a trap.
