A joint team of cyber crime officers of Goa and Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested two Delhi-based Africans who picked up a Goa woman for Rs 37 lakh through a matrimonial site.

The statement issued by the police said that the victim had lodged a complaint at the cyber crime police station stating that a person proposed to her on the matrimonial site by creating a fake profile. By implicating the woman in the trap, the accused told her to send expensive gifts from abroad and in the name of custom clearance for these foreign gifts, the accused cheated 37 lakhs from the victim.

According to the statement, the accused presented himself as a doctor in front of the woman. She also lured expensive gifts to the woman. The accused told the victim that she would have to get a custom clearance for the gifts. African citizen cheated the woman for Rs 37 lakh from this excuse. As soon as the victim realized that she had been cheated, she lodged her complaint with the cybercrime police station. During investigation, it was revealed that an organized gang of criminals with fake identities were behind the crime.

Police said the two accused have been identified as Supa Sebastian of Cameroon and Senehoun Frank of Ivory Coast. Both the accused were currently living in Mehrauli area of ​​Delhi. Police said that both African citizens took mobile phones, SIM cards with fake IDs. Police have recovered databases of 650 people from the accused. Further investigation is currently underway.
