Hindi cinema's Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor died in 2020 after battling cancer for nearly two years. Before his death, Rishi Sharma was shooting for the film Namkeen. Paresh Rawal has agreed to complete a few days work in the film. Paresh will complete the remaining parts of the sage.

Sharma ji Namkeen is scheduled to release on September 4 this year at Rishi Kapoor's Birth Anniversary. Paresh will play the same character in the film, who was playing Rishi Kapoor. The producer of the film, Honey Trehan, told Mid-Day that special technology would be used with VFX to complete the film, so that quality would not be affected. Negotiations are going on with some VFX studios for this. He told that only four days work is left. The shooting of most parts of the film was completed in January last year. Soon after the death of his sister Ritu Nanda, Rishi started shooting for the film. The film is co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, while director debutant Hitesh Bhatia.

Rishi Kapoor died in the month of April in 2020, when the corona virus pannedemic was in full swing in the country. The last visit of the sage could not be taken out due to panademic. He was cremated on the day of his death, in which only 24 people were allowed to attend. Rishi's daughter Riddhima too could not attend the funeral. Rishi was last seen in the role of a police officer in the film The Body, released in 2019. Emraan Hashmi played the lead role in this film.
