The government is paying special attention to improving road transport in the country. Roads are being widened and highways are being built. Also, the toll tax system is also being made easy, after which you will not have to show different tags or give cash on different toll points in the country. After the 'One Nation, One Ration Card', the government is now preparing to implement 'One Nation, One Tag'. With the help of a single digital tag, 'One Nation One Tag', you can pay any national highway, state highway to municipal road tax.
Currently, the toll is paid on the National Highways and State Highways of the country through fast tag or RFID. In many states, Municipal tax or upon entering the state has to be filled with toll tax or other digital technology other than fast tag. In such a situation, instead of pasting different tags on the same vehicle, the government is considering the system of giving all the tolls to only one tag.
The Ministry of Road Transport is going to hold an important meeting with officials of several departments on October 10 to discuss all aspects related to the concept of 'One Nation, One Tag'. The government is in favor of giving the majority of the revenue in the toll collection through the tag so that the state can agree and make the concept of one country, one tag-successful.
The government wants to promote digital toll collection through fast tags to bring transparency and speed in toll collection. According to the data, 60 lakh fast tags have been placed on private vehicles, commercial vehicles such as taxis, buses, trucks, etc. With this fast tag, tolls can be paid for roads in 17 states.
