The Indian Air Force proudly celebrates its 87th anniversary on October 8, 2019 on the occasion, a scintillating air display by various aircraft will be the hallmark of the airforce.
The defence wing on Sunday released a press statement asking citizens living in low - lying area to not throw eatables and garbage in the open so as to not attract birds.
The Indian Airforce (IAF) is the air man of the Indian armed forces. Its complement of personnel and aircraft assets ranks fourth amongst the air force of the world.
Its primary mission to secure Indian airspace and the conduct aerial warfare during armed conflict. It was officially established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary airforce of the British empire.
Since 1950 the IAF has been involved in four wars the neighbouring Pakistan and one with the people's republic of China.
The IAF'S mission expands beyond engagement with hostile forces with the IAF Participating in the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
In a first ,IAF acknowledges its jets bombed Pakistani posts across Loc in 2002.
