Jayapura (Indonesia): Around 50 people have died since coming into the grip of the flood in Eastern Province of Papua, many people are being told missing. National Disaster Agency spokesman Pravo Nugroho said that due to heavy rains in Satani, near the provincial capital, Jayapura, landslides, and floods occurred in which at least 50 people died and 59 others were injured. Due to floods, dozens of homes have also been damaged.
Damage can go up further-
He said, "The number of casualties and the disaster can be further damaged because the search and rescue teams are still trying to reach the affected areas". Along with that, the water of the flood has come down. However, the authorities are still trying to get people to a safe place.
The removal of people-
Nugroho said, "The joint search and rescue teams are still working to evacuate people, are not reaching all affected areas due to fall of trees, rocks, mud, and other reasons."
Let you know that floods generally occur in Indonesia, especially during the rainy season, especially between October and April. Last January, at least 70 people were killed in floods and landslides on Sulawesi island of the country.
