Ravi Shastri, coach of the Indian cricket team, said that he respected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and who questioned his relationship 'they don't care'. Last week, Ganguly termed speculation of differences with Shastri as a rumor.
Shastri told a TV channel that as far as Sourav-Shastri is concerned, it is chilli masala like chaat and bhelpuri for the media. The Indian coach said that I greatly respect what Ganguly has done as a cricketer. He took command of Indian cricket at the most difficult time after the betting episode. You need the trust of the people to come back and I respect that. And if no one respects it then I don't care about it.
The differences between Shastri and Ganguly became public in 2016 when Shastri applied for the post of coach and Ganguly was on the cricket advisory committee that chose Anil Kumble. Shastri termed Ganguly as president after three years of running the board in a democratic manner, without "being brilliant". He said that Ganguly becoming president is fantastic. At first I am thrilled that BCCI is in existence again. We played without BCCI for three years.
The 55-year-old coach is heavily trolled on social media. On this Shastri said that what is social media? Not a troll? I post for my fans. They read, thank you. After that everybody went to hell. It is just for my fans that I am here and doing this. Speakers will speak. Our country is a country with 130 crore population. People who have no work do such things. Shastri said that if I am the coach of the Indian team, I am definitely under pressure. This is the pressure you have to answer. You are in a responsible position.
On the critics, Shastri said that if you raise one finger towards me, three fingers will rise towards you, remember this. This Indian team does not like to lose. Shastri said that people have the right to raise questions. I say it is their job, but let me say what I say, do not stop me, because you will never succeed in it.
