Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that India has the capacity to become an exporter in the defense sector. He claimed that many countries are showing interest in buying defense products by establishing a relationship with India. According to the Defense Minister, many missions of India want to be included in the arms of their weapons.
India is traditionally a major importer of arms-
This statement of Sitharaman is being considered as very important. The reason for this is that India is traditionally a major importer of weapons. The army still has to depend on foreign governments and companies for nearly 50 percent of defense purchases. At an event of the Vivekananda International Foundation, Defense Minister said, "Our Integrated Missile Program is a worldwide phenomenon, because its consequences are known to everyone. I want to convey that the producers have a market besides the Indian Army. "He told that the world also has an idea of India's warships and the ability to make ordinary ships. That's why many countries are seeking help in making defense products.
India needs Long Term Plan-
Sitharaman stressed that India needs a long term plan to become an exporter. Giving the example of Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL), a government company, he said, "I have been asking them (HAL) for a long time to increase exports. Air Force can complain that you do not get paid on time, but there is also a dispute that you do not supply timely supplies. "According to the Defense Minister, despite the increase in HAL's production capacity, the Air Force has been taken earlier. It may take a lot of time to complete the orders.
