RK Pachauri, an environmentalist and former head of The Energy and Resources Institute, died on Thursday at the age of 79. Earlier, he was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to heart disease.
RK Pachauri was also the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from 2002 to 2015. During his tenure, the IPCC was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. According to the information, Pachauri had a heart attack in Mexico in July last year. His condition was critical after surgery and he was placed on a ventilator.
Pachauri was accused of sexual harassment by a former female colleague and a European woman after which he resigned as Terry's chief.
