Indian team spinner Pragyan Ojha has said goodbye to international and domestic cricket with immediate effect.

21st February, 2020

Indian team spinner Pragyan Ojha has retired from international and domestic cricket with immediate effect. Pragyan Ojha played his last international match in the year 2013 against the West Indies in Mumbai. He was voted Man of the Match in this match. Ojha took five wickets in the first innings and five in the second innings. Interestingly, it was also the last international match of Sachin Tendulkar's career.

Pragyan Ojha announced on Twitter that he is retiring from international and domestic cricket with immediate effect. He said that playing for the Indian team was his childhood dream and he was happy that he was able to do it and gained the love and respect of the fans of the country. Born in Bhubaneswar, Pragyan Ojha played 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20s for Team India. He took 113 wickets in Tests, 21 in ODIs and 10 wickets in T20.

Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha credited former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for playing in Team India. Ojha said, 'I thank Mahendra Singh Dhoni for giving me a chance to play in the Indian team.' Ojha's name is also recorded in the history of Indian Premier League. He is the first spinner to become the Purple Cap winner in IPL history. He took the Purple Cap to his name with 21 wickets in the 2010 IPL.

Pragyan Ojha played his last Test in Mumbai from 14 to 16 November. This was the last match of Sachin Tendulkar's international career and the 200th Test. In this match, Ojha took five wickets for 40 runs in the first innings while taking five wickets for 49 runs in the second innings. However, despite taking ten wickets in the match, he could never get a chance to play for Team India again. Pragyan Ojha made his ODI debut in 2008 in Karachi against Bangladesh, while playing the first T20 in Nottingham against the same opponent in 2009. Ojha made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Kanpur in 2009.
Pragyan Ojha has won three titles in his IPL career. Hyderabad has won one IPL title with Deccan Chargers and two with Mumbai Indians. Ojha has played a total of 92 matches in the Indian Premier League. In this, he has taken 89 wickets.
