22nd February, 2020

The government will expand the Rurban scheme to equip villages with amenities like cities, under which it has been decided to create a total of more than one thousand clusters in the next three years. A provision of five thousand crore rupees has been made for the operation of the scheme. Its purpose is to prevent the migration of people from villages. Under this, there is a plan for the overall development of villages. This scheme of NITI Aayog has been approved by the government. All the states have been appealed to come forward and participate.

Force to speed up the mission appeals to all states to come forward

Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM) was fully reviewed after four years. So far, three hundred clusters have been selected under the mission. In most, the development process has started. Only after their success, it is being considered to be further enhanced. There are increasing signs of urbanization such as increasing urban density, high levels of non-agricultural employment, increasing economic activity and other socio-economic scales. The mission aims to provide a new impetus to economic development at the local level, with a major change in these by increasing basic services and creating well-organized rural clusters. This will lead to the overall development of the region and will promote integrated and inclusive rural development.

NITI Aayog approved a plan of five thousand crores

Only 240 of the selected clusters in the scheme have been commissioned. It has been decided to speed up the slow pace of the mission. The mission is run entirely with financial support from the Center, State, and CSR. A total of Rs 1843 crore has been released by the Center so far for the development of the ongoing clusters. With the help of the state and other corporate sectors, schemes are being run with a total amount of more than 28 thousand crores.

These facilities will be available in villages

Twenty-four hours a day supply of tap water to every household in the villages of Rurban cluster, domestic waste management, provision of roads in and within the villages of the cluster, adequate street lights using green technology and facilities for public transport Huh. The economic facilities in the cluster include various thematic areas in the field of agricultural services and processing, skill development to promote tourism and small and medium enterprises.
