In Chhattisgarh, the case of taking legal action to prevent the spread of corona virus (COVID-19) has also come up. The order has been passed by the District Magistrate (Raigad) under section 144 (1) of CRPC on 19 March. Also, to prevent the infection of Corona (Kovid-19) virus, special monitoring is being done by the District Administration and Police Department on the passengers returning from foreign and other states.
Raigarh Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh received information that 4 residents of Kharsia region had gone on 14 March to Almaty (Kazakhstan), who returned to Kharsia on 19 March 2020. Taking this seriously, the Superintendent of Police has directed SDOP Kharsia to take necessary action immediately. A joint team of Health Department and Police Department under the leadership of Executive Magistrate reached his home and got health check by doctor. The four persons have been instructed to stay in home isolation for 14 days, following strict instructions issued by the government.
According to the police, three out of four persons were seen roaming in public places, roads and establishments of Kharsia on March 20 and 21, violating the instructions of the administration. His photo went viral on social media, the information of which was given by the residents of Kharsia to Superintendent of Police Raigad. A case has been registered under Section 188 of the IPS and Section 3 of the Epidemic Act 1897 in the police station Kharsia if the allegations are found true in the investigation.
