Illegal Bangladeshi: Big action by Delhi Police, 5 Indians questioned, 121 Bangladeshis will be sent back
Delhi Police detained 121 illegal Bangladeshis and started the deportation process. Five Indians have been questioned in the case.
New Delhi. The Delhi Police has detained 121 Bangladeshis allegedly living illegally in India and the process of deporting them through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is being initiated, an official said on Friday. The official said the illegal migrants were caught within a week and added that five Indians were questioned in the case. “A case has also been registered at the Narela Industrial Area police station to probe a suspected gang allegedly involved in illegal entry and stay of foreign nationals in the country,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said. He said five Indians have been questioned in connection with the case, one of whom has been issued a notice under Section 35 (3) of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). The official said the police carried out a comprehensive verification drive last week during which documents of 831 suspected Bangladeshi nationals were checked. “121 persons were found living in the country without valid documents,” Valsan said.
A case has been registered under Sections 14 (punishment for contravention of the provisions of the Act, etc.) and 14C (punishment for abetment) of the Foreigners Act, 1946 along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) to probe the racket responsible for facilitating illegal entry and residence of immigrants, the official said.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the case. Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the five Indians involved were renting out properties to illegal residents. The official said police are also probing alleged forgery of government documents, including Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards and electricity meter connections. He said that these documents were allegedly used to provide local identity to these immigrants.
The official said, “Notices have been issued to the concerned departments. If anyone is found involved in making these fake documents, legal action will be taken against all persons including government officials.” He said that investigation in the case is going on.
