Former transgender Democratic congressman sentenced to 33 years in prison for child sexual abuse
Stacie Marie Laughton, former transgender representative, admitted to being interested in having sexual relations with daycare children exposed in photographs
Stacie Marie Laughton, a former transgender representative from New Hampshire, pleaded guilty to receiving images of naked children taken at a Massachusetts day care center and was sentenced to 33 years in prison.
According to information released by the WCVB television channel, the first transsexual person elected as an official in the “Granite State” received the explicit images through her ex-partner, Lindsay Groves, who earlier this month was sentenced to spend 22 years in prison derived from charges of child sexual exploitation and one count of distribution of child pornography,
A statement issued by the Massachusetts District Attorney's Office mentions that the 40-year-old woman worked at the Creative Minds daycare center in neighboring Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, and allegedly committed the crimes credited to her there.
Based on a thorough investigation, authorities determined that, between May 2022 and June 2023, during routine changes of diapers and training pants before naps, Groves took several photographs of prepubescent children in a private bathroom.
Subsequently, the woman in question sent them to her ex-partner via her mobile phone attached to her text messages.
Court documents indicate that the victims of his misdeeds were only three to five years old.
According to Hillsborough County Jail officials, after being presented for an inmate registration number, Stacie Marie Laughton was housed in the male section.
The controversial images of small nudes would have been sent in 2022, when Stacie Marie Laughton was still serving as a Democratic congresswoman.
In the messages that she returned to her then partner, you can read a conversation where she showed interest in having sexual relations with the children exposed in the photographs.
In addition to her sentence, the prosecution requests that, when Laughton obtains her freedom, she be monitored for the rest of her life, imposing a fine of up to $250,000.
In 2012, the confessed criminal was convicted of credit card fraud.
Despite this, eight years later, she was elected as a Democratic representative for District 4 of Nashua.
